Booker Elementary School

Questions and Response

We have no safe place to take children during severe weather. It is definitely worrisome. Will there be a safe room established for Booker Art Magnet School?  We need a safe room of some kind to protect our students.

Response: The specific type and level of improvements at Booker Elementary School are being determined.  A safe room will be considered as part of the process for finalizing what happens at and to Booker Elementary School.

When considering what is safe for our students, did the team look at facilities for how safe building would be during severe storms? As a parent I worry about my children not having a safe place during tornadoes.

Response:  The safety of students and persons within a school facility is of paramount importance to all of us. The team of assessors conducting the physical evaluation of Little Rock School District facilities was all local residents who are very conscious of the weather conditions in the area and who would have evaluated schools with focus on the ability of the structure to withstand tornadoes and other weather occurrences that might occur in areas where school facilities are located.
